Bronx Zoo - Wednesday April 26, 2017
Overview: The Regional Symposium is a one day event with keepers being invited from zoos around the Northeast. The National Capital AAZK Chapter has hosted this event for the past three years, with representatives from twenty-five zoos being present at this past symposium. All food (snacks, pizza & soft drinks) is covered by a $20 admission charge to attend the symposium. All reservations are made in advance online. Behind the scenes tours of the zoo will be offered during the day, with keeper presentations taking place in the evening with a one hour dinner break in between. The symposium encourages keepers to gain experience delivering conference quality presentations, while also providing a great opportunity to network and share ideas with other keepers. Space is limited, so please be sure to purchase your tickets early if you want to guarantee yourself a spot. AAZK members will be given priority over non-members.

Call for Presentations: We are looking for a variety of keeper presentations to be featured at the regional symposium. This smaller, more intimate conference provides a great opportunity for keepers to practice giving conference quality presentations. Presenters will have fifteen minutes to talk, with a five minute question and answer period directly afterwards. Interested presenters should send an abstract of their presentation to nycaazk@gmail.com no later than March 1st, at which time the symposium committee will select the presentations that will be given.
